Playing the role of Mother Wisdom

Woman of Light, Mother Wisdom, Natalie Oliver Atherton, Natalie Oliver-Atherton’s performance credits include the role of the Gypsy Acid Queen in two international tours of the Who’s Tommy; the roles of Constance in David Merrick’s Oh, Kay!; and the privilege of originating the role of Andrea Devereaux in Once on This Island. She has also performed a one-year-plus stint in the Off-Broadway hit, A Brief History of White Music and she can be seen in the feature films: Mississippi Masala (opposite Oscar winner Denzel Washington) and Amazing Grace & Chuck. Regionally, she has had principal roles in Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdalene), Little Shop of Horrors, Intimate Apparel (for which she received a Denver Post Ovation Award nomination for best supporting actress in a musical) and Porgy and Bess.

As a lead vocalist, Oliver-Atherton has toured internationally with performances in Tokyo, Japan, Geneva, Switzerland; and Offenbach, Germany as well as at Carnegie Hall in New York City and on the French Riviera for the late Prince Rainier of Monaco. She has also performed as the soprano soloist with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert & Too Hot to Handel); and the Florida Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, and Sinfonia Gulfcoast.

In addition, she had headlined at the former Stardust Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in the original production “Enter the Night”. A particular highlight in her career was the honor of opening for former poet laureate, Dr. Maya Angelou at the Pepsi Center in Denver,CO. Recently she was pleased to appear as “Mother Wisdom” in a new opera about the life of Mary Magdalene (Magdalene, Woman of Light) and received a second Denver Post Ovation Award nomination as best supporting actress in a musical. She is music director & conductor of the international vocal ensemble S.T.A.R.S. (Singers Taking Action Reaching Souls) and has spent the last two years on a world tour bringing light, love and beautiful music to the four corners of the globe.

Natalie Oliver-Atherton currently resides in Centennial, Colorado with her husband Jeffrey and their three beautiful children (Justin 20, Rachael 15 and Serea 11). She and her husband are private instructor/coaches of their own vocal and acting studio, Namasté Works. Namasté (The Divine in me honors the Divine in you) to all and Al Humdulilah!!!
